Commercial International Bank (CIBEY) was founded in 1975 as a joint venture between Egypt’s National Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank. Hisham Ezz Al-Arab was reappointed as CEO in November 2024 after previously leading the bank from 2002 to 2020, transforming it into Egypt’s leading and largest private-sector bank. Under his leadership, the bank’s market capitalisation grew to over $6bn from $200m, establishing CIB as the most profitable bank operating in Egypt and earning recognition as the World’s Best Bank in Emerging Markets.
