Telecom Egypt

Telecom Egypt (ETEL) was founded in 1854 with the first telegraph line in Egypt, making it Africa’s first telecommunications company. Tamer El Mahdi was appointed Managing Director and CEO in September 2025, bringing over 30 years of telecom experience including leadership roles at Orascom Telecom. The company launched its mobile service WE in September 2017, establishing itself as Egypt’s comprehensive telecom provider.
